Role overview

About us

DLG is evolving. Across every facet of our business, our teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. By joining them, you’ll have the opportunity to not just be recognised for your skills but encouraged to build upon them and empowered to do your absolute best.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a Claims Performance Analytics Lead who will join our Claims Analytics team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a hybrid opportunity with two Leeds office days a week.

Salary range: £45k-£65k

In 2024, Direct Line Group (DLG) incurred approximately £2.9 billion in Motor claims costs. As Claims Performance Analytics Lead, you’ll play a critical role in helping us understand, analyse, and influence the drivers behind these costs—from frequency and type of claims to their overall severity.

We're not just looking for someone who can crunch numbers—we need a strategic thinker who can turn complex data into meaningful insight and use it to drive high-impact decisions across the business. If you combine strong technical ability with leadership skills and a passion for performance improvement, this could be your next big move.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own and evolve complex forecasting models that predict future claims trends and behaviours

  • Deliver clear, compelling analysis that shapes business strategy and supports key decision-making at the highest levels (including CEO, CFO, and SLT)

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver analytics-driven solutions to key challenges across Claims and the wider business

  • Use advanced SQL and statistical techniques to interrogate datasets and identify performance trends, cost drivers, and improvement opportunities

  • Spot opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency, helping to strengthen our bottom line

  • Lead a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement, challenging existing practices with data-backed insight

  • Support and mentor junior analysts, helping to grow technical capability and analytical excellence across the team

What we’re looking for:

  • Deep analytical expertise, with a strong numerical foundation and a passion for using data to solve real business problems

  • Advanced SQL coding skills and experience working with large datasets using statistical or predictive techniques

  • Proficiency in data visualisation tools such as Tableau (or similar), with the ability to tell stories through data

  • Proven forecasting and modelling experience, ideally in a financial services or insurance environment

  • Ability to communicate complex data in a clear, engaging way to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences

  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder influencing skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

  • A naturally curious, innovative mindset, constantly seeking better ways of working

  • People management experience preferred—or the ambition to step into a leadership role and develop others

What we’ll give you in return:

We wouldn’t be where we are today without our people and the wide variety of perspectives and life experiences they bring. That’s why we offer excellent benefits to suit your lifestyle and a flexible working model combining the best parts of home and office-working, varying with the nature of your role.

Core benefits include:

·         9% employer contributed pension

·         50% off home, motor and pet insurance plus free travel insurance and Green Flag breakdown cover

·         Up to 10% annual bonus

·         25 days holiday (rising by 1 each year to 28) + bank holidays and option to buy or sell up to 5 days

·         Additional optional Health and Dental insurance

·         EV car scheme allows all colleagues to lease a brand new electric or plug-in hybrid car in a tax efficient way.

·         Buy as you earn share scheme

·         Employee discounts and cashback

Plus many more

When I joined, people were so welcoming, so friendly, and I’ve found the best people here.

I’ve got aspirations, I know where I want to go, and I can have that conversation with my manager to help me to get there and make a plan which is really nice.

The team are 100% the best bit about this role. We work in very demanding situations, but I’m most proud of the team and the functions that we all serve.
