Indirect Tax Accountant (FTC)

Finance, Risk, Audit & Actuarial
Fixed Term Contract

Role overview

DLG is evolving. Across every facet of our business, our teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. By joining them, you’ll have the opportunity to not just be recognised for your skills but encouraged to build upon them and empowered to do your absolute best.

We’re looking for an Indirect Tax Accountant to join our team on a fixed term basis, to support the management of VAT and IPT processes. This role will give you exposure to senior stakeholders across Finance, Tax, and external bodies like HMRC. You’ll ensure compliance with tax regulations, improve processes, and be a key point of contact for financial control and finance systems teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Indirect Tax Accountant, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Preparing and reviewing quarterly VAT and IPT returns, ensuring timely filing and payment.
  • Posting VAT and IPT journals, reconciling tax accounts, and reviewing transactions for compliance.
  • Ensuring accuracy of tax data recorded in finance systems and the general ledger.
  • Reviewing overseas transactions to ensure compliance with international tax requirements.
  • Supporting the offshore Shared Service Centre (SSC) in India, reviewing reconciliations and addressing queries.
  • Monitoring compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) legislation across the group.
  • Reviewing invoicing and posting rules in ERP systems to ensure correct VAT/IPT treatment.
  • Delivering training and advisory support to business units on indirect tax matters.

Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office

What You'll Need:

We need someone with strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach. You should have:

  • Professional qualification (CTA or ACA, or equivalent).
  • Indirect tax experience, ideally within financial services.
  • Solid technical knowledge of UK VAT/IPT, with awareness of direct taxes.
  • Experience working with tax authorities and external advisors.
  • An understanding of finance systems, controls, and reconciliations.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Hours: 35 Hours per week

There’s a lot of collaboration in high-pressure environments because you need those different opinions in order to get things done.

The work is so dynamic and ever evolving. You might not think that from insurance but there’s a strong focus on adapting to new challenges.

I feel like I’m in charge and in control of my work. My opinion is valid, I can speak up, and challenge opinions.

It’s a great business and a great opportunity and full of great people who really want to get things done.
